O papel das brincadeiras no desenvolvimento cognitivo

Resumo


O presente artigo, de autoria de Brian Sutton-Smith, discute uma produção cultural que influencia no desenvolvimento cognitivo da criança e que, geralmente, é subestimada: a brincadeira. Ora, qual é a função da brincadeira em termos de desenvolvimento lógico para a criança? Qual seria também a função da brincadeira na compreensão dos papéis sociais e na apropriação de elementos do ambiente e da cultura? A partir destes questionamentos, Sutton-Smith propugna que o entendimento sobre a brincadeira, em suma, deve extrapolar os ideários que a classifica como mera “diversão” e/ou “passatempo”.
